En el año 1994, el 26 de marzo, nació un artista empírico llamado Erick Santiago Caicedo Roa, desde temprana edad empezó a explorar el arte del dibujo, siempre representando la realidad que lo rodeaba. En su adolescencia su creatividad había crecido demasiado, tanto fue así que empezó a vender sus dibujos y pinturas a sus más allegados. Quiso expandirse tanto, que a la edad de 18 participó en una feria de emprendimiento en Medellín, la cual se llamaba, “Comic Familiar”.

Al terminar su bachillerato, se presentó a la academia de artes, al no ser aceptado, Erick no se dió por vencido y optó por estudiar un técnico en lo que más le gustaba, mientras conseguía dinero para continuar profundizando su arte. Cuando consigue un trabajo en la ciudad de Bogotá, empieza a exhibir sus dibujos en el pequeño escritorio que le habían designado y es así como consigue el puesto de diseñador, conceptualizando cada imagen que le pedían, todo parecía estar bien, hasta que empezaron los primeros síntomas de su enfermedad, Esquizofrenia, catalogada así por él mismo. Es así, como Erick por un tiempo, deja el artista interior que lo caracterizó desde el día que nació.

Erik empieza su lucha y recuperación, después de un año vuelve a coger sus colores y acrílicos, es ahí donde simboliza su locura y delirios que enfrentaba como mejor mecanismo de expresión, una vez más su arte no lo dejo solo, se podía definir como: “la interpretación freudiana de su visión ante lo que lo rodea, muchos de sus dibujos son escritos he incluso poemas”.

Años siguientes conoció FUNDEI en donde empezó a dictar clases de arte, dedicando todo su conocimiento e interpretaciones del mundo. Nos da a entender que las discapacidades cognitivas y mentales no son un impedimento para continuar con los sueños y metas trazadas. Allí conoció muchos amigos, entre ellos Nicolás Mayorquín otro profesor de artes, en la actualidad se apoyan mutuamente compartiendo diferentes saberes.

En el año 2017, se presenta en el evento “Inclusión es diversión”, exponiendo sus obras, las cuales iban inclinadas hacia las artes plásticas. En el 2018, se presenta en el colegio Gerardo Molina Ramírez, en el evento “La buena vecindad”, en donde asisten más de 3200 invitados ya que para esta institución es primordial la inclusión. Aquí muestra una galería de su arte más preciado, junto a otros compañeros. En el año 2019, expone una muestra artística en compañía de Nicolás Mayorquin, en el evento “Inclusión es diversión”, en la versión de este evento. En ese mismo año, participó en “Subamos el ánimo” siempre acompañado de su arte.
